Tagtool Pandemic, Ars Harbour and Library & Tulln, Austria (2020)

In 2020, facing the global restrictions of the pandemic, VJ Suave explored new methods of artistic occupation by connecting remotely with public spaces in Austria. As part of the Ars Electronica Festival and the Tagtool Pandemic initiative, the duo collaborated from Brazil with artists in Europe using the multiplayer feature of the Tagtool app, which allows multiple users to draw and animate on the same surface simultaneously in real-time.

This digital bridge allowed VJ Suave’s characters and narratives to travel instantly across the ocean, appearing as large-scale projections on the industrial architecture of the Ars Harbour (Linz) and urban structures in Tulln, including the local library and the Danube bridge. The performance highlighted the power of creative technology to overcome physical isolation, transforming distant concrete walls into shared canvases for collective improvisation and ephemeral street art.
